Sneaker Bunko 30th Anniversary “The Sneaker” Magazine

I originally intended to purchase the physical edition of “The Sneaker” back during the end of last month. However I started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and forgot all about making my preorder. When I went to try and preorder they were sold out on Amazon Japan, and I felt terrible. The good news is that Sneaker Bunko decided to release it digitally on Bookwalker. This was a great move for people such as myself that missed out on the first wave of the physical edition.

Shinmai appears a few times in the magazine. The most interesting appearance being some of the editors talking about Sneaker Bunko’s Ero Light novels and their future with new writers. Uesu’s contribution to the Sneaker came at the end. It’s more or less a reflection on the success of Shinmai as well as his well wishes for Sneaker Bunko. The only thing of any real note is that he tells fans to look forward to Volume 13 of Shinmai which will release early next year.

Anyways I’m a big fan of the Sneaker Bunko 30th anniversary Illustration. I like how all of the top selling Sneaker Bunko series were placed next to each other. It was a nice seeing Mio next to Harui, Deedlit, and Aqua.

  1. can someone organize a translation project for something called Ulysses: Jehanne Darc to Renkin no Kishi? the anime adaption made me interested in VN and the things the anime is possibly skipping/ruining but no English version exists, dammit. Basara’s towering forbidden manly man’s fruit-cannon would approve, it told me so yesterday, I’m sure of it

    1. I looked it up and flat chested Jeanne d’arc makes my soul cry lol. Mikage Kasuga also wrote Oda Nobuna. I’m surprised the series hasn’t been picked up by someone. If I were you, I would try to gauge the general interest of the community and see how far people are willing to go in order to see that the series gets translated.

      1. I don’t know if there is any English fan community for that series besides a few perverts, the weekly anime episode discussion threads at reddit barely have anyone in there, and out of all the characters that Jeanne d’arc character interests me not lol

        1. It looks like there’s a fairly active wiki for the series. That could be a good place to start looking for people that follow the series. Like back when I started this for Shinmai, it was just me and five or some friends, and then it exploded into what it is today.

  2. Hey, any news on what Ookuma will do next now that Hundred is done? I don’t have my hopes up for anything new or great regarding Shinmai volume 13. Illustrating a brand new series perhaps?

    1. After Hundred volume 16 released, Ookuma said he’s working on Shinmai volume 13. He still has his day job at Nitroplus. Shinmai volume 13 is going to include new content since at least one of the stories is going to be a longer Jin story in the Divine Realm. Uesu said in volume 12’s afterword that it got much longer than he originally intended. The later volumes of Shinmai have single chapters that are longer than the average length of most light novels. With 200+ pages Uesu should be able to end everything for real this time.
